Home Staging Tip: Curb Appeal!

When selling your home, you should pay special attention to the curb appeal of your home. This means looking at your home like a buyer - would you even get out of the car if you were house hunting? It can be difficult to view your home with fresh eyes, but it’s so important. It could make the difference between a quick sale and 6 months of sitting there. It sounds like I’m exaggerating, but it’s true. An important part of home staging is boosting curb appeal. Here are some tips:

Get out in front of your home and pick apart every detail.

Does the shrubbery lend a gloomy look to the home?

Is there a boat, camper, or extra car that could be relocated?

Does your house need paint? Sometimes you can get by with repainting just the trim.

Does the lawn have brown or bare patches to fix?

Do you have sad-looking potted plants on your front porch? Get rid of them.

What about clutter, is there anything that can be removed from the driveway, front porch, or front yard?

How about a front door makeover? Changing your front door color to a striking red or elegant gloss black is an easy job with big impact.

New house numbers and a new mailbox may be in order. Little things like these add up.

Do you have a front yard planter/bed area that could use some cheerful annual color? I like to brighten with white or yellow flowers. These are inexpensive, so buy a few more than you think you will need. Don’t follow the spacing guideline on the tag, you want the area to look full NOW, not in a month.

These are just a few pointers on boosting your curb appeal to help sell your house fast.
