Home Staging Tips: Add Curb Appeal
Country Living magazine cites the top 4 ways to boost curb appeal (this isn’t brand new, it’s been in my “archives” for a while):
1. Paint: Change colors for an instant update or repaint the same color to freshen up. Changing the trim color only can freshen and update easily and inexpensively, if the paint on the body of the house is in good condition.
2. Shutters: Shutters add character and a real finishing touch.
3. Entry: The entry pulls people in and sets the mood. Country Living recommends symmetry in entry way design, for example using large matching pots of plants on both sides. (By the way the front porch makeover they feature in this section of the Feb. 06 issue is truly inspiring!)
4. Lighting: I always like to spend a little extra on nice light fixtures (inside and out) because they really add to the look and feel of a home. It is an area where many people try to save money by going with the cheapest fixtures you can buy at “the depot” but this is a mistake. People do notice, even if you don’t hear them gushing “Wow what amazing light fixtures this home has!”
